General Dentistry

Your Winter Springs Family Dentist

At Dr. Robert Burks dental office, we’re passionate about creating healthy, beautiful smiles for patients of all ages. As your Winter Springs family dentist, Dr. Burks and his team specialize in a variety of expert treatments to accomplish this goal. General dentistry is just one way we help our patients achieve excellent oral health and develop healthy habits.  Our dental care includes the following:

Dental Exams

Exams are done on a regular basis to ensure that your smile is in top shape. At this visit, we will perform a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, look for any potential issues, and recommend treatment options if we notice cavities, tooth decay, or other problems. As your Winter Springs family dentist, we’ll also provide you with oral hygiene tips and instructions on how to best care for your smile at home.

Dental Hygiene Appointments

It’s important to have regular dental hygiene appointments to stay on top of your oral health and prevent any issues from progressing into more serious problems. When you visit Dr. Burks, our dental hygienist will use special tools to gently remove plaque, bacteria and any leftover food particles from in between your teeth and gums—especially in those hard to reach places. After polishing your teeth, we may apply a fluoride treatment to protect them.  When we’re done, you’ll love the feeling of your sparkling clean teeth!

If you have a damaged tooth or tooth decay, we may recommend tooth-colored restorations to repair your smile.  These fillings are used to fill empty spaces in the tooth and they bond to the tooth and protect it from developing further decay.

Tooth Extractions

In some cases, it is necessary for a tooth to be removed.  We use anesthesia so that you are completely comfortable during to procedure.  Possible reasons for extractions include severe tooth decay, oral trauma, gum disease or wisdom teeth eruption.  In some cases, we will refer you to a carefully selected Oral Surgeon for your treatment.

Root Canals

When certain dental problems are left untreated, the tooth structure can become severely damaged. When this happens, a root canal may be prescribed to save the tooth, preventing the need for extraction. During a root canal procedure, Dr. Burks will  remove decayed tissue from inside the tooth to restore the tooth to health.
